Hand-knitted socks are wonderful things, aren't they? And so addictive! lol

In a way, I kind of like my spindles more than my wheel - way more portable and there's something even more meditative to them. But I do love my Matilda, she's quite the work horse. I have her in my room, which isn't that big. She's maybe 2 foot by 3 foot, so like chair size. And a bit bulky, but portable (I'm going to figure out shoulder straps or something for her). She's a Babe's Fiber Garden wheel (double treadle production actually) and they also make a smaller wheel called a Pinkie Spinning wheel. That one is only 15" by 10.5". So maybe that might be something to look into :)

I realized I have the wrong name of the mitts . . . Te Ara oops (I'll fix that shortly). I spent some time knitting, too, I am currently in love with socks, lol. I just got a huge bag of sockyarn for my birthday and I don't even know what to cast on first.
I guess I need to spent a few more minutes here to look up all the patterns you mentioned. I already visited the lady-purl site and it looks lovely =)
I never used a spinning wheel, just a hand spindle so far. Working with it takes a long time, but I enjoy it. I would love a spinning wheel, but currently my flat is to small to host one ;-) I looked at the Mirkwood Spindles and they are gorgeous! Oh my, I completely understand why you want one, because I want one, too, lol :D It makes me want to pick up my spindle again :D
I a a small obsession with all the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit stuff, so I especially love the Mirkwood things and definitely have to look up the yarn and pattern you mentioned ;-)
I have seen the video of Michele receiving the Spangler quilt and I was amazed by the idea (and she was so touched by it!). I think it was an amazing and kind thing to do and looked fantastic when finished! =)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
