Yes, I know, not cross stitch related . . .

Yes, I know this isn't actually cross stitch related. (Though . . . kinda, since I could then watch while I stitch . . . ) But anyway. Look what I found tonight at the library when I went for Yack & Yarn . . . not just disc 3 & 4 like there had been but also disc 1 & 2! And they're not due back until September 3rd - well ok as long as they're back before the library opens the next day. I think I know what my Labor Day plans are . . . lol

Short update

Ok so I'm not great at updating my blog, but hey here's an update! I had started this one - HAED's Expecting (artist Marjolean Gulinski, I think it how it's spelled). I started this on 6/9/13. I haven't worked on her much, but so far, so good. I'm stitching her on 25 ct light blue lugana (yes, the same fabric as The Moon), with 2 strands for full crosses. I suppose I need to hurry up and stitch everything I want to on 25 over 1 before I can't see the darn stuff anymore. I like the itty-bitty, teeny-tiny stitches, but they're hard to see sometimes. Anyway, this seems to be a tad easier, well at least today, than the Tannith one is. Maybe the light blue helps, I dunno. The nice thing about this particular pattern is there is only 8 colors, one of which is #4 braid in 0032. So like 17 skeins of floss and 2 spools of #4 braid. So that's nice, price-wise. And also, the background is not stitched, so some of the pages are all done! hahaha I decided to only print out the row of pages I'm on and decided, for a change, to start at the top and work my way down. So out of pages 1 - 5, I only have page 2 & 3 to stitch of this first/top row. And page 2 doesn't have much to be stitched, just a bit in the corner. I think she might go a bit faster had I picked a larger count fabric to use, but I do like the color. And she'll be big enough on 25 over 1. So here's the latest update and also what she will eventually look like.

And the Winners are . . .

Ok so I wanted to do some fancy tagging/linky stuff to tag or post or whatever the winners but I'm not technologically savvy enough for that. Well not at nearly 3 am after having been rudely awakened nearly 22 hours before by a charlie horse and then working all day aaaand going to see the lead singer of TK-421 do a blues/request show. (YouTube "Bed of Stone" or "Burn, Georgia, Burn" for a good idea of their style.) And I'm still kinda giddy over the whole I-got-my-request-of-All-Along-the-Watchtower-played-first! thing. lol

Ok . . . so . . . the winners . . .

The winner of the Spangler SK chart is Sue Morrin-Beaudoin and the winner of the mini Steampunk iThing is Lesleyanne! Congratulations and thank you both for commenting and reading my blog. And thank you all for commenting! I do like doing a giveaway periodically in honor or memory of someone. I'm not sure when the next one will be or who it will be in memory/honor of, tho next time I will be more proactive in my clue disbursement. No, really I will.

Now to get in contact with the winners and then to get the charts to them.

But first . . . sleeeeeeep . . .

Giveaway charts are:

Ok, late again . . . I meant to post the artists' names last night but forgot. Oops.

So without further ado, the two charts I am giving away in memory of my Uncle Bill are:

Randal Spangler's SK Joy of Computer Work:

And also Chris Downs' mini Steampunk IThing:

I picked these two because one of his daughters had said she liked the SK one the best of the ones I put in an album. I picked the other because it was gadgety (ok not really a word I know) and he liked that sort of thing. I remember once when we were there, they had brought their wii with them and we were doing a 4-person scrable type tournament thing. I forget now what word it was, but someone found a D&D type word - I want to say "cudgel" might have been it. And of course, I thought that was funny, being as I play D&D, well pathfinder.

So . . . how to enter? Just post a comment. I'm also posting this in a few fb groups, so you can comment there as well. And on July 19th, I will do the two drawings and announce the winner(s).

Ok so my clues are a bit late

Oh dear! I forgot to do a clue on Friday! Bother!

Ok . . . so here are your clues:

1) They are not by the same artist.

2) They go together in the theme (technology) but not in composition).

3) One is colorful and the other is not.

4) The one that is not colorful is not a black & white, but similar.

5) Neither chart is a BAP.

6) Neither chart is the same kind. There are minis, QSs, and SKs they could possibly be.

7) And both charts are from 2012 or later.

Ok I had meant to post this Friday, but then got distracted by socks and knitting and the Dune miniseries. Or something like that. So I told myself to post this sometime over the weekend, which obviously didn't get done.

I'll post the artist names tomorrow and then on the 17th, I'll open up the signups for the drawings. And yes, there will be two drawings.

I am Dobby!

Why? Because I love knitting socks! Knitted socks, my precious. (Yes I know, two different sources.) I decided to start a new tradition. New socks on Christmas morning. And of course, all the lush sock yarn I've seen in the magazines is just begging to be knitted into socks. I've never knitted socks before and starting out with 4 needles is a bit tricky. But once I got the hang of it, I just couldn't stop! I've gotten quite a bit further than this - I'm nearly done with the heel bit. I think I'll probably leave the precious, I mean my new experimental sock, here while I go gaming tonight. But oh I love the tiny stitches (I think in retrospective, the double pointed needles are mostly size 1 oh well they work) and the stripes. I'm looking forward to picking out more yarn and knitting some for my mom & sister for Christmas morning. And I might just make a bunch more too.

Wow

I so did NOT realize how long it'd been since the last time I blogged on here. I suppose my life has been a bit busy, but I probably also should chalk it up to laziness. I might have good intentions to do blogs, but actually following through . . . not so of the much. This is really just supposed to be a short post (no pics). And it's mainly to announce another giveaway guessing game.

This time, I am giving away two charts in memory of my uncle who passed away on May 4th. He had a long 4 1/2 year battle with ALS and I wanted to do something in memory/honor of him. So I found a pair of HAED charts that seemed to fit. Well there were more, but I don't have that much money to spend on RAKs. Yay for sales! I wish the cause charts had an ALS, since that would have been an obvious choice, but barring that, I had to fiddle about and figure it out.

The first clue is that they are NOT the same chart! Well ok I'll give a couple of others since I'm starting late on my guessing game. Um . . . let's see, they are not a big/little version of the same one. As in (and this is NOT either one) it wouldn't be the BAP of Anderson's Garnet and also the QS version of the same design. And for my final clue . . . they are not by the same artist.

Ok . . . I almost posted another clue, but I think it will be too much of a pointer. I'll hold that for next week's clue. Speaking of which - I bet you're wondering when it will be given away. That's an easy answer. I'll be doing the giveaway sometime on Friday, July 19th, as that was my Uncle Bill's birthday. I'll probably do a mid-week clue between now and the 12th. Stay tuned for your next clue!

Obviously, I've been doing things other than configuring a new guessing game. I've finished some things. Not nearly as many as I wanted to, but still, finishes. I did get a temporary, full-time job - it's in the same department I worked at Sept - Nov. 2011 - the manager specifically asked to see if I was avaialbe. And of course I was. So I've been working there since Dec. 10, 2012. I do data entry and I'm both very fast and accurate at it. Which is a good thing, since I like it.

Let's see, what have I finished? I finished a TARDIS ornament on sparkly purple fabric for a friend, a Ghostbusters ornament on the same fabric for a friend, QS Snowflake, SK Logan, SK Forbidden Doorway, the Ecclesiastes piece, the house picture for my cousin (the other one is about half finished), the cabbage baby birth announcement for my newest cousin born Jan 1st this year, a crocheted teddy bear in pooh bear colors for him, aaaand the magic mouse aka tribal mouse by White Willow Stitching. Ok so more than I thought, but not as many as I wanted.

Pics to follow soon!
